Scholarship
A limited number of scholarships from various sources are available to students. The Dean will inform students about the various scholarships as soon as they become available.
The Randle Nursing Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Troy Randle, DO and Melody Randle, DNP with a commitment to helping non-traditional students achieve their dream of joining the nursing profession. The award is presented twice a year with each recipient receiving $1,000 towards his or her tuition.
- Student must be actively enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Program
- Student must demonstrate financial need
- Student must be a single parent or an underrepresented minority
- Student must show a strong commitment to the field of nursing
- Student must be in good academic standing throughout the scholarship year
- Student must demonstrate exceptional leadership while enrolled
The Kathy Shiveler Award for Excellence in Clinical Nursing
This award was established by Russell Shiveler in memory of his wife, Kathy, who was an ICU nurse at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for almost 40 years. She was known as a deeply caring advocate for her patients and this scholarship seeks to recognize those qualities of caring and compassion. The award is presented annually to recognize four full time students for $2,500 each to be awarded in in the last semester of study prior to graduation.
- Student must be actively enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Program
- High degree of clinical skill and knowledge, but equally important, demonstrates qualities of caring and compassion
- Student must show a strong commitment to the field of nursing
- Student must be in good academic standing throughout the award year
The Bill and Kathie Stone Scholarship
The Kathie and Bill Stone Scholarship has generously been established with a sincere desire to support the education of students at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing and the Nursing profession. This scholarship is in the amount of $2500 and will be awarded two times each calendar year. Students who meet the criteria must submit a written essay to the Dean by the established date. Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and a recipient selected. Students may receive the scholarship more than one time.
- Student must be actively enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing Program
- Evidence of financial need
- The students must maintain a 2.8 grade point average or higher
- Currently in good academic and, if applicable, clinical standing
- Letter of support from full-time Lourdes faculty member or academic college professor if just entering the program
Linda Wray Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Linda Wray, RN to assist with the expenses of the nursing program. It is awarded annually to one full time student entering the senior semester for $500.
- Students must be actively enrolled full time in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Program
- Student must demonstrate financial need or be from Camden
- Student must plan on working in the community
- Student must show a strong commitment to the field of nursing
- Student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average or higher throughout the scholarship year
Franklin Andaloro Strive for Excellence Scholarship
The Franklin Andaloro Strive for Excellence scholarship is presented to a student demonstrating a strong commitment and continual dedication to his or her studies. The award is presented twice a year with each recipient receiving $2,500 towards his or her tuition.
- Student must actively be enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Program
- Student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
- All full time students may apply
- The scholarship is limited to tuition, therefore the check is payable to Camden County College
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member and one from an external professional source are required
Linda Dambrowski Pay-it-Forward Scholarship
The Linda Dambrowski Pay-it-Forward Scholarship is presented to a student who values the educational opportunities afforded them as a student at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing and recognizes the importance of carrying these opportunities forward as a registered nurse. The award is presented twice a year with each recipient receiving $2,500 towards his or her tuition.
- Student must actively be enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing Program
- Student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
- All full time students may apply
- The scholarship is limited to tuition, therefore the check is payable to Camden County College
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member and one from an external professional source are required
The Eileen Rickershauser Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Carl E. Rickershauser in memory of his late wife, Eileen to provide financial assistance to one full time student enrolled in Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing. The scholarship is for $1000 and is awarded annually to provide financial support for the summer session. The scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria:
- The students must be enrolled full time in Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing
- The students must demonstrate financial need
- The students must show a strong commitment to the field of nursing
- The students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average or higher at the time of application
- The student must demonstrate satisfactory academic and clinical performance
- A letter of support from a full-time faculty member
The Doris M. and Edward J. Damm Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Doris and Edward Damm longtime friends, Bill and Kathie Stone. The scholarship is made in this spirit and in recognition of Ms. Damm's leadership and service to Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where she served on the Board of Trustees for many years. The scholarship will consist of a $10,000 award paid out over the four semesters of the program.
- The student must be in good academic standing throughout the scholarship year.
- The scholarship will be awarded to a student with a 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of the first semester.
- All full time first semester students meeting this criteria may apply.
Still I Rise Scholarship for Nursing Resilience
$500.00 scholarship awarded to a student that has stumbled academically and has repeated a semester one time. Student must be a “first time academic repeating student.”
- Student must have a 2.5 or higher GPA.
- Student must be in good academic standing with no performance improvement plan or written warning given in the current semester.
John and Tanya Matsinger Scholarship
Dr. John Matsinger and Mrs. Tanya Matsinger created this scholarship to provide tuition for students enrolled in the Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing. Scholarships will be prioritized for current employees of Virtua Health who wish to become nurses and are attending OLOL SON.
- $10,000.00 scholarship awarded in the fall semester to a Nursing 2 or Nursing 3 student.
- Current Virtua Health employees will be prioritized.
- Student must have a 2.8 or higher GPA.
- Student must be in good academic standing with no performance improvement plan or written warning given throughout the scholarship year.
- Preferable for continuous employment at Virtua Health post-graduation.
